In addition to giving tax credits to families, teachers, and directors, the Louisiana School Readiness Tax Credit provided an incentive for businesses to make contributions to child care. Businesses that constructed, renovated, or expanded a child care center, purchased equipment for a center, maintained or operated a center, or subsidized child care for their employees could receive a tax credit, the amount of which was based on the star rating of the center. Businesses could also receive a tax credit for donations made to child care resource and referral agencies that provided technical assistance for programs that improved their Quality Start QRIS star status.
